Question: My Energy Account is £900 Credit How Do I Get My Money Back?

Question: I am £900 in credit with energy supplier, they have said twice they will credit my account but have not done so and they continue to take Direct Debit of £200 pretty month?  Some might think there quickest way is to just cancel your monthly Direct Debit for a month or 2, to get back £200 each month by not paying, BUT would it be a sensible thing to?  Please remember prices are likely to increase again in April 2023 😢  We all must make changes and adapt our daily ways of living to reduce our energy consumption. However cancelling a DD is not a smart move, and something that should be carefully thought about before going ahead and doing it.  It will leave a dark mark on your credit score.   It also could leave your financial situation far worse off in the long run.  Best to have patience and speak with your suppliers, ask what are the options available to you.  Some energy suppliers charge less if you pay by DD? So it's important to check...

Tumble driers Question: 30th Sept 2022 How much energy does a tumble drier use per load or cycle? Depends how energy efficient your Tumble drier is? These are what I just found on Currys looking at some models for examples:  Typically quoted by manufacturers is kWh per year based on 160 loads: *Energy efficient A+++  174kWh per yr or 1.08kWh   194kWh per yr or 1.2125kWh  FULL LOAD 1.54kWh is 54p (10Kg) HALF LOAD 0.89kWh is 31p *Energy efficient A++ heat pump 282kWh per yr or 1.7625kWh  FULL LOAD 2.43kWh is 85p (10Kg) HALF LOAD 1.21kWh is 42.4p   *Energy efficient A+   270kWh per yr or 1.6875kWh  *Energy efficient B  Condenser Dryer  670kWh per yr or 4.1875kWh  FULL LOAD 5.7kWh (10Kg) is £1.99 HALF LOAD 3kWh is £1.05p *Energy efficient C  520kWh or 3.25kWh  FULL LOAD 4.49kWh (7Kg) is £1.57 HALF LOAD 2.27kWh is 79.5p Average online mostly says about  4.5kWh per cycle is £1.57 (*See below energy efficiency cha...

Cafe Customer Using Laptop Whilst Charging For 4 Hours?

A question I was asked online: What would you say the average cost is to charge and use whilst charging a laptop in a cafe thats paying business electric rates for 4 hours? I've tried to work it out but I can't. Just an average. I had a customer in my cafe today who stayed for 4 hours working on her laptop. I wouldn't of thought anything about it prior to the current situation. She bought some breakfast and then a coffee later so I do appreciate her custom, but just wondering how much electricity was used? My answer:  The answer to this Question is not straight forward, on average they use no more than 50 Watts or 0.05kWh, however some will use 20 to 100 watts, and dependent upon what the user is doing on the laptop, the usage may increase to 180 Watts or 0.18kWh.  My energy supplier is increasing my electricity kWh rate to 35.0564p on 1st Oct 2022, therefore if I calculate using an average laptop at 50Watts or 0.05kWh:  0.05kWh x 35.0564p is 1.75282p per hour, so 4 hours...

How Much Roughly Does A 9.5kW Electric Shower Cost To Use?

This is a question I answered online Sept 2022 and thought I would share it here, because others found my answer helpful.  It depends what your energy rate is per kWh? If your Electricity rate is 34p per kW/h (£0.34 per kW/h).   And 34p per kW/h is likely going to be the new electricity rate come 1st Oct 2022 for most people.  So, I am going to ignore the daily charge in these calculations and only consider what using a 9.5kWh electric shower uses. If your shower uses 9.5kW/h (kW per hour), then an hour long shower uses 9.5kW of electricity . If your Electricity costs 34p per kW then calculate this by doing this: 9.5kW/h x £0.34 = £3.23   Notice I have converted the 34p into £0.34 Therefore, a half hour or 30 minute shower divide £3.23 by 2 is £1.62   15 minute shower divide £3.23 by 4 is £0.81 or 81p .  5 minute shower divide £3.23 by 12 is £0.27 or 27p To work out per minute cost of shower take £3.23 and divide it by 60 is £0.058333 or ...

Cause and Effect

Cause and Effect..... One thing of certainty is change; including many major milestones within the development of scientific theories; for example what once held a strong foundation in 1916 may not have done so in 1931. Whoever says scientists don't know what they are talking about is foolish; scientific research offers up to people possible explanations and reasonable predictions, but does scientific theory ever become fact? If proof exists beyond a shadow of a doubt, scientists would no longer continue to research and develop their knowledge and understanding around certain subject areas; cosmologists question the shape of the universe now, once people questioned the shape of the Earth. Knowledge exists in a constant state of flux, and great scientists driven by curiosity offer up new possibilities to yesterday's questions. Observed correlation might indicate a casual relationship between two variables, and may enable us to make a strong argument about the cause and effect r...

However, which cases are considered in CFR - infected (symptomatic or not), symptomatic (confirmed or not) or confirmed. This means that a CFR is often given using t...
